• Air Yeezy Doernbecher Charity Auction Ends
2 CommentsThis past Saturday, September 19, at 7:30 PM PST, the Nike Air Yeezy Doernbecher Charity Auctions ended, raising a total of $23,900 for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The size 12, 1-of-1 Grammy Air Yeezy shoes that Kanye West actually wore at the 2008 Grammy Awards fetched $16,500, while the 1-of-1 sample of the Air Yeezy with the Jordan 6 sole went for $7,400. Two die-hard sneaker heads obtain extremely rare Air Yeezy samples to add to their collection, while the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital receives the proceeds. If you ask me, it’s a wonderful outcome that is a win-win situation
September 22nd, 2009• Air Yeezy Upper Design Process
No CommentsBack in March, prior to all the Nike Air Yeezy hysteria and official release dates, Complex had an Air Yeezy gallery which included photos that revealed the evolution of the Air Yeezy sneaker. The photos revealed the original sketches and initial plans that Kanye West and the Nike team had put together throughout the planning stages of the collaboration. Now, as the 3 releases have long passed, Sole Collector shares with the public (never before seen) behind-the-scenes photos of the making of the Air Yeezy upper. Aside from its glow in the dark sole, the Air Yeezy’s upper is definitely a “neck breaker” and something to marvel at. Inspired by the McFly sneaker/silhouette, Kanye envisioned his shoe to have a retro appeal with a luxury twist.

• Air Yeezy on 100 Best Sneakers of the 2000s
1 CommentWith all the hype and astronomical aftermarket prices that the Nike Air Yeezy commanded during the 3 consecutive months of each colorway’s release, it was only right that the shoe found its way on Complex Magazine’s 100 Best Sneakers of the 2000s list. The Air Yeezy, a collaboration between Kanye West and Nike, was #5 on a list that included some of the most sought-after shoes that have been released in this decade. Some of the shoes that joined the Air Yeezy in the top 10 included the Nike Dunk SB Tiffany, Nike Dunk SB Jedi, Air Max 90 Bacon, and the UNDFTD Air Jordan IV.

• Kanye Talks About Taylor Swift on Leno
9 CommentsNo matter how you feel about Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV VMA awards, you have to agree that Kanye’s interview with Jay Leno showed that he could be a compassionate human being. The interview was under 4 minutes and Kanye appeared extremely hurt and remorseful towards his on-stage antics at the previous night’s VMAs. For a little moment, it appeared as though Kanye would have a complete breakdown after Leno asked him how his late mother, Donda West, would feel about Kanye’s behavior towards Swift. Kanye eventually pulled it together and realized that he needed to figure out a solution to better himself.
But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.
Now, whether or not Kanye genuinely meant it is entirely different story, but you have to give it up for him for facing this situation head-on, and not allowing his PR team to release a statement on his behalf. Now, with this “break” that Kanye mentions, does that mean no Fame Kills concert with Lady Gaga? No new album? We’ll just have to wait and see how this unfolds, because without a doubt, it won’t go away just this easily. The media won’t allow it.

September 14th, 2009• Kanye at Takashi Murakami Exhibition
9 CommentsKanye West was recently spotted at the “Takashi Murakami Paints Self-Portraits” Exhibition in Paris by Kanye Live forum member YvesSaintLaurentDior, and was lucky enough to score a photo with the Louis Vuitton Don himself. Kanye’s all black outfit consisted of such items as a pea coat jacket and the black Louis Vuitton Jasper’s shoes.
