In the sneaker culture, Kanye West made history by releasing his Nike Air Yeezy and Louis Vuitton shoes, both of which are featured on BusinessWeek’s The 25 Coolest Sneaker Designs of 2009. The Nike Air Yeezy marked the first time Nike has ever worked with a non-athlete to design a sneaker. What’s more, its 3 colorway releases will be remembered for their astronomical resell value on Ebay and the multiple-day campouts from several sneaker heads all over the world. With the Louis Vuitton collaboration shoes, although not as hyped as the Air Yeezy, proved Kanye’s versatility in fashion. To work alongside one of the most iconic fashion labels the world has ever known reinforced Kanye’s global image as a fashion connoisseur. These two highly-anticipated shoe collaborations definitely exceeded all the expectations and are more than just merely sneakers, but a piece of fashion history.

16 CommentsThe collaboration sneakers between Kanye West and Louis Vuitton will be released at worldwide Louis Vuitton retail stores TODAY, WEDNESDAY, July 1st. Unlike the Nike Air Yeezy release, all 3 styles, the Dons, Jasper’s, and Mr. Hudson, will be released at the same time. The least expensive price is $840 for the Mr. Hudson boat-style sneaker and the most expensive is $1,140 for the Jasper’s with the pink sole. Surely, it is pricey, but what did you honestly expect from a French luxury brand that sells handkerchiefs for several hundred dollars?

6 CommentsThe crew over at La MJC was fortunate enough to receive the entire collection of the collaboration sneaker between Kanye West and Louis Vuitton weeks before its release. They teamed up with photographer Amaury Choay to create a lifestyle photoshoot with the sneakers and are the first individuals other than Kanye, of course, to actually be seen wearing the sneakers. The creative direction, presentation, and just the entire photoshoot, really, does a wonderful job revealing the great aesthetic of the sneaker; props to La MJC and Amaury.

• Kanye in the Ego Music Video
1 CommentWhen it comes to music videos and presentation, Kanye West is always on point. Whether it be the storyline, effects, or his outfit in the video, he never seizes to amaze viewers. The music video for Beyonce’s current single “Ego” features Kanye in a suit that complements the entire black/white theme of the video, while wearing a pair of the Mr. Hudson shoes that he designed with Louis Vuitton. Kanye’s also wearing the black flat-top Super sunglasses by RETROSUPERFUTURE, which has been his prime choice for sunglasses several months now. Overall, it’s a nice, clean outfit that could be worn at work or even in the club. Here are screen shots from the video:
