• Kanye’s Gold Jewelry and Accessories
No CommentsKanye West went through the TSA airport screening earlier this afternoon. His flight attire included two gold Jesus pieces, gold bracelets, a belt, and a pair of Cartier “Vitesse” sunglasses. Kanye tweeted a picture of the items placed in a TSA security tray, saying “Set off the metal detectors with the Swag.” Considering he was in attendance at last night’s Bulls-Heat game in Chicago, one can only assume he was leaving a Chicago airport (Midway or O’Hare).

• The Resurrection of the G.O.O.D Music Jesus Piece
No CommentsIt appears as though the Jesus piece has been resurrected by Kanye’s G.O.O.D music label. New artist, CyHi Da Prynce, recently had his Chaining Day and received a gold necklace, while Kanye has been seen wearing a pair of Jesus pieces in the past several weeks.
The Rosewood Movement and the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy showed Kanye’s newfound preference for suits and hard bottoms. During this time, Kanye essentially put his black Jesus piece on hiatus – when he was seen wearing something around his neck, he kept it modest and subtle with a beaded necklace or thin gold chains without a pendant. His turn away from the Jesus piece seemed to have an influence on other G.O.O.D music artists, such as Big Sean, who started rocking “POW!” necklaces from Japanese label Ambush, and Kid Cudi, who has appeared to have stopped wearing necklaces altogether.
February 4th, 2011• Kanye Spotted at the Knicks-Heat Game
2 CommentsKanye West was seen yesterday at Madison Square Garden where the New York Knicks faced the Miami Heat. Similar to my last blog post, Kanye was seen wearing two gold Jesus piece necklaces over a plain black t-shirt – a look that is quite the opposite of the Rosewood Movement. It will be interesting to see Kanye’s outfits over the next couple of months leading up to his new album and even his choice of clothing in the “All of the Lights” music video set to premiere, as this may prove to be the start of a whole new look.

• Kanye Wearing Gold Jesus Piece Necklaces
3 CommentsOn Kanye West’s “Two Words,” he rapped, “One neck, two chains.” A line that clearly represented Kanye’s state of fashion and style several years back, when the Louis Vuitton Don had a wide assortment of Jesus piece necklaces. Whether it was diamond encrusted or flat black, Kanye became known for his Jesus pendants and essentially inspired many other artists to follow suit. With his Rosewood Movement and fascination with loafers during the second half of 2010, it appeared that his style had evolved. A fashion evolution that included wearing beaded necklaces and thin gold figaro chains in place of his signature black Jesus piece. Recently, though, Kanye was seen wearing two gold Jesus piece necklaces – a much different selection of jewelry than what he’s worn during the era of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. My personal take is that these two necklaces will become Kanye’s primary choice of jewelry for the next few months. With his collaboration album with Jay-Z set to drop in March, his choice of jewelry and dress will be a representation of the sound and aesthetic of Watch The Throne.

• Good Wood Black Jesus Piece Significance
6 CommentsWith the release of the Good Wood Black Jesus piece at midnight EST on Black Friday, Chris Lee speaks with Time Out New York to talk about the significance of the wooden accessory. Since Chris first previewed the black Jesus piece on his website, CtotheJL, over a month ago, blogs and Kanye fans have been anticipating its availability to the public. Little was known about the release, as it was believed to be an exclusive for a select number of individuals. As Chris states in the video, the black Jesus piece will only be available for a 24 hour period and will never be released again. This is definitely more exclusive compared to Good Wood’s first release, the brown Jesus piece, which was available for pre-order on the Good Wood website for several weeks.
Check out the second photo below of Chris showing the back of the black Jesus piece made for yours truly. Thank you to Chris and the rest of Good Wood for the complementary black Jesus piece!
