Less than a month before the release of Kanye West and Jay-z’s Watch the Throne album releases on August 2, the public has received the first single H.A.M., detailed notes from an invite-only listening session, and now photos from recording sessions. In one of the photographs, Kanye is spotted wearing an American Apparel hoody in the salt and pepper colorway and cement gray Air Jordan 3 shoes. In other shots taken throughout the duo’s recording sessions, Yeezy’s also wearing a black v-neck t-shirt, a white long-sleeve shirt, a blazer, and black waxed denim. Check out additional photos on Hypebeast.

• Kanye West Attends the 2011 French Open
1 Comment

Kanye West has been making the most of his time in France the past few weeks—attending the Cannes Film Festival, pulling up at the amfAR Gala in a $1.5 million Benz, and kissing models on balconies.  Yesterday, he attended the 2011 French Open between Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro. Looking on as Djokavic defeated del Potro, Kanye wore a full-zip hoody and black sunglasses—his most casual outfit overseas since his arrival in France. Even though it’s difficult to tell the brand of the hoody, it features a zipper that extends around the lining of the hood—a style made popular by A Bathing Ape in 2005 during the advent of the all-over print hoody craze.

As reported earlier, Kanye West performed tonight at the Party in the Garden event at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Kanye dressed it down by rocking a gray zip hoody, plain white t-shirt, distressed jeans, and high-top sneakers. Based on the white drawstring and white tape on the hoody’s zipper, we suspect he’s wearing the Salt and Pepper Zip Hoody by American Apparel in the peppered gray colorway. The hoody, a popular “Top Rated” item at American Apparel, is available on the AA online store for $48.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye Wearing HomeRoom Hoodie

Remember when all-over print hoodies were all the rage in 2006-2007? I can’t necessarily say that Bape was the creator of the all-over print hoodie, but they definitely put it on the map in a huge way. Many brands caught on with the aesthetic and soon the all-over print was all over. It could be spotted on many fashion-forward individuals and was made readily available at most local boutiques. Here’s Kanye West back in 2007 rocking a custom hoodie from HomeRoom that was limited to 30 pieces.
