• Kanye West’s Greatest Footwear Moments via Complex
No Comments

Kanye West’s eclectic shoe collection is highlighted in Complex’s recent “Yeezy Does It: Kanye West’s Greatest Footwear Moments” story. In the 75-picture gallery that shows outfits as far as 2003, Kanye can be seen wearing shoes from a wide variety of brands like Asics, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Timberland, and Vans. Looking through the slideshow of images, it’s interesting to note the year and type of sneakers Kanye’s got on. Early in his career, he wore a wide selection of styles from a multitude of brands, while in more recent years, he’s stuck to Nike Air Yeezys, Air Jordans, his Louis Vuitton collaboration shoes, and a small amount of other European-based brands. All of the outfits are pre-Rosewood Movement, so you won’t find any images of Kanye in hard-bottom dress shoes or Stubbs & Wootton loafers, which have been his preferred shoes as of late. Take a stroll through memory lane and check out Complex’s feature on Kanye’s shoes.

• Matt Halfhill’s Top 10 Sneakers of 2009
4 Comments

Matt Halfill, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the online magazine NiceKicks.com, has come together with Complex to create a list that showcases the top sneakers from this past year. Matt Halfhill’s Top 10 Sneakers of 2009 features highly-sought after shoes such as the Nike 1/2 Cent “Royal”, Air Jordan 11 Space Jam, and the Nike Air Foamposite “Eggplant”. It’s definitely a true sneaker head’s list that includes sneakers geared for various sports and lifestyles. However, despite all the great shoe releases from ’09, Kanye West’s blank/pink Nike Air Yeezy beat out the rest and was able to claim the #1 spot on Halfhill’s list. With reputable outlets and figures, like BusinessWeek and Halfhill, recognizing the collaboration shoe between Kanye and Nike is a reinforcement to the significance the Air Yeezy had on sneaker culture and fashion in 2009.
