New Image: Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Zen Gray”

The Vice President of Def Jam Promotions, Shawn “Pecas” Costner, recently tweeted a photo of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneaker in the “Zen Gray” colorway. Costner received the Nike x Kanye West collaboration sneaker directly from ‘Ye, tweeting “@kanyewest gave me his air yeezy 2.” Although this is a new image, it is not the first time we’ve seen this colorway. Kanye debuted this exact “Zen Gray” Air Yeezy 2 sneaker at the 2011 MTV VMAs. With all the hype surrounding the black/pink Air Yeezy 2s that Kanye has been wearing during the Watch the Throne tour, it’s great to see previews of additional colorways.

Kanye Performs in Versace x H&M Jacket and Air Yeezy 2s

The Watch The Throne tour brought Kanye West to New York this past week, where he also made an appearance at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There, he performed on the runway wearing a Versace for H&M varsity jacket and black/pink Air Yeezy 2 shoes. The varsity jacket will be available at select H&M stores on November 19. No date has been confirmed yet for the Air Yeezy 2s. The fashion show will air on November 29 on CBS.

Theophilus London Tweets Backstage Photo of Air Yeezy 2s

Hip-Hop artist Theophilus London attended the Watch the Throne concert in New Jersey yesterday and tweeted a backstage photo of Kanye wearing the black/pink Air Yeezy 2 shoes. Kanye has been wearing these new Nike collaboration shoes since the beginning of the tour last month. No word has been set on an Air Yeezy 2 release date, but if you’ve got tickets to any of the Watch the Throne shows, be sure to look closely at ‘Ye’s kicks. If this black/pink colorway is never released, this might be your only shot at seeing them in person.

Turn Back Thursday: Kanye West at the Glow in the Dark Tour

Now that Kanye West is on the road for the Watch the Throne tour, let’s go back to 2008 for his last major concert series, the Glow in the Dark tour. I took this photo of Kanye when he was sitting atop of what was supposed to be a mountain on a desert planet, while back-up vocals were performing Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. Little did I know that the very sneakers he was performing in would have a such a huge impact on the sneaker community the following year. Dubbed the Fire Red Air Yeezy, it would turn out that these were samples exclusively for ‘Ye’s Glow in the Dark tour. Three years later, Kanye’s now touring with Jay-Z and previewing the Air Yeezy 2 to the delight of select concertgoers who vividly remember seeing Kanye wear the original Yeezys back in ’08.

Detailed Concert Photos of the Nike Air Yeezy 2

Thanks to DJ Proto J from Sole Collector and NikeTalk, we’ve got some detailed images of Kanye wearing the black/pink Nike Air Yeezy 2 during the Watch the Throne concert last weekend. The overall silhouette hasn’t changed too drastically from the original Air Yeezy, but there is definitely a lot more going on with this new version. From the crocodile-like print on the side panels, ridges on the back of the shoe, embellishments on the strap, and material on the toebox, it appears that we can expect more texture on the Air Yeezy 2. So far, Kanye’s worn this shoe at all four Watch the Throne concerts, so don’t be surprised if we see additional images within the next two months.
