One year ago today, the Nike Air Yeezy sneaker trilogy was completed with the release of the net/net Air Yeezy colorway. Although not as coveted as the zen gray and black/pink releases, that was not reason enough to deter Kanye fans and sneaker heads from spending multiple days camped outside of select retailers, or paying outrageous resale prices. For three consecutive months, the Air Yeezy had the sneaker community on the edge, calling retailers and refreshing the pages of forums and blogs. Considering price, press, quantities, and campouts, it’s difficult to imagine future sneaker releases matching the hype of the Nike Air Yeezy. Already considered a musical genius, Kanye’s experience with the Nike Air Yeezy was a great representation of his sense of fashion and brand influence.

For June’s edition of Turn Back Thursday, Kanye is seen wearing the red LRG “Dead Serious” hoody from winter 2006. Fetching upwards of $400 on Ebay and other marketplaces, the LRG hoody features a gold full-zip, mesh eyes, and a front and back skeleton print. These days, it would be rare to find Kanye wearing such an extravagant hoodie, but back in 2006, all-over print, full-zip hoodies were definitely a staple piece of the entire street wear fashion scene.

Continuing with his stay in New York, Kanye was once again seen walking the streets of SoHo. Notable items to point out in Kanye’s outfit include a pair of  the Air Jordan Spizikes in the black/varsity red-cement grey-military blue colorway, and the Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton duffel bag from the “Monogramouflage” collection.

The Spizikes were released this past February and retailed for $175. The Murakami x Louis Vuitton duffel bag was released in June 2008 at the Brooklyn Museum Murakami Exhibition and select LV retail stores. The retail price was set at $1,930.

After months of being away from the public eye, Kanye West was seen yesterday in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan in New York. Photographed by lifestyle blogger and tastemaker, William Yan, Kanye’s outfit consisted of a cream pocket t-shirt, a red hoodie, and dark vintage-washed jeans. Nothing of shock value, but definitely a classic outfit that is comparable to his style from the Graduation days of 2007/2008.

With the news that Kanye West’s Los Angeles home is up for sale, more photos of several of the rooms inside his 4,000+ square foot abode are being made available to the public. One such photo I recently discovered (although from 2007) displays a closeup shot of a mere fraction of Kanye’s sneaker collection. In fact, this may possibly be the same shoe rack from when Kanye was featured in Harper’s Bazaar. Judging from the photo, there’s several low top Converse Chuck Taylors, an Air Jordan 3 and two Air Jordan Spizikes, a Nike Air Max 1 Safari, and Vans skate shoes.

Can you identify any of the other shoes in Kanye’s sneaker collection?

Before the Nike Air Yeezy hype, there was the Nike SB Supreme Blazer in 2006. A collaboration sneaker between New York-based brand Supreme and Nike, this particular sneaker, similar to the Air Yeezy, resulted in multi-day campouts and commanded astronomical resale prices on sneaker forums and Ebay. With the Nike Blazer as the silhouette, there were three colorways released- red, black, and white. Here’s Kanye West rocking the red Supreme Blazers in 2007. Not entirely shocking, seeing as we’ve already seen Kanye wearing Supreme back in 2003.
