• Kanye’s Shoes: All-Star Weekend Wrap Up
1 Comment

If there is any confirmation that Kanye West is back to wearing sneakers over hard-bottoms, it is this past NBA All-Star weekend. Saturday was the debut for the music video for “All of the Lights,” where Kanye was seen wearing a pair of black/cement Air Jordan 3s. The short film “The Black Mamba” also premiered on that day, in which Kanye wore what could be a pair of the Air Yeezy 2 shoes. On Sunday, he made an appearance at the NBA All-Star game halftime show, performing “All of the Lights” with Rihanna. There, Kanye wore an all-red outfit and Jordan Infrared 6s. I might be jumping the gun by saying that Kanye is completely done with the Rosewood Movement, but he’s definitely looking like the Kanye from the Graduation era that blended European designer brands with Nike and Jordan sneakers.

• Kanye West’s Greatest Footwear Moments via Complex
No Comments

Kanye West’s eclectic shoe collection is highlighted in Complex’s recent “Yeezy Does It: Kanye West’s Greatest Footwear Moments” story. In the 75-picture gallery that shows outfits as far as 2003, Kanye can be seen wearing shoes from a wide variety of brands like Asics, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Timberland, and Vans. Looking through the slideshow of images, it’s interesting to note the year and type of sneakers Kanye’s got on. Early in his career, he wore a wide selection of styles from a multitude of brands, while in more recent years, he’s stuck to Nike Air Yeezys, Air Jordans, his Louis Vuitton collaboration shoes, and a small amount of other European-based brands. All of the outfits are pre-Rosewood Movement, so you won’t find any images of Kanye in hard-bottom dress shoes or Stubbs & Wootton loafers, which have been his preferred shoes as of late. Take a stroll through memory lane and check out Complex’s feature on Kanye’s shoes.

After the premiere of Kanye West’s 35-minute short film, “Runaway,” he sat down with MTV for a QA session and was wearing an all-black outfit with several contrasting gold chains around his neck. The same gold chains that Kanye wore during his live performance at this year’s MTV VMAs. The shoes he had on during the QA session were Raf Simons high-top sneakers that feature a velcro strap and a full-leather upper. The Raf Simons shoes retail for 500 euros ($696) and are part of of the luxury brand’s 2010-11 winter collection. They are currently available for purchase on the Colette online store. You can also watch Kanye’s QA session on the MTV website.
