• Skating in the Nike Air Yeezy 2
2 CommentsWith Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne tour set to kick off this weekend, entertainment company VOYR is providing behind-the-scenes footage of the duo’s North American tour. A preview video is already up on their website and if you watch closely, someone is actually skating in a pair of the black Nike Air Yeezy 2 shoes. It’s unknown if Kanye himself is the one on the board and considering that Virgil Abloh and Ibn Jasper do in fact skate, there’s also a good chance it could be one of them. Jasper was even spotted skating in the first Air Yeezys back in 2009. If you recall, Kanye wore sample Air Yeezys throughout his entire Glow in the Dark tour in 2008, so if this behind-the-scenes footage is any indication of what sneakers Kanye will wear during the Watch the Throne tour, we could be seeing a lot more of the Air Yeezy 2 shoes in the next couple of months.
• All Glow-in-the-Dark Air Yeezy Spotted at “Back for the Future”
1 CommentNike designer Tiffany Beers wore an all glow-in-the-dark pair of the first Air Yeezy shoe at Friday’s Nike Mag “Back for the Future” auction at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. The glow-in-the-dark prototype was originally featured in Issue 29 of Sole Collector magazine. If you recall, the black Air Yeezys that Kanye West wore at the 2008 Grammy Awards covered this issue. It’s clear that there are certain elements of the Nike Mag that influenced Kanye’s shoe, and Beers, who worked on both sneakers, chose an appropriate event to showcase this seldom seen Air Yeezy prototype.
• Nike Air Yeezy 2 Rumored to Release on Black Friday
1 CommentKanye West’s highly anticipated Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneaker is rumored to release in the U.S. on Black Friday 2011, which falls on November 25. Talks of a Black Friday release had originally surfaced following Kanye’s Coachella appearance where he performed in the black Air Yeezy 2s. With no credible source tied to the rumor, many seemed to dismiss the idea. Today, though, reputable sneaker aficionado ShoeWolf tweeted, “YEEZY 2: BLACK FRIDAY – NUFF SAID,” three days after Kanye debuted the zen gray colorway of the sneaker at the VMAs. Until Nike reveals an official Air Yeezy 2 release date, it doesn’t appear that chatter of a possible Black Friday release will subside anytime soon after ShoeWolf’s tweet.

14 CommentsKanye West was spotted wearing the Air Yeezy 2 at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. This is the debut of the white/gray colorway, as the first colorway that we originally saw at Coachella was a black Air Yeezy 2. There’s no word on whether this is the sample or final version of the shoe, but more previews should be expected once an Air Yeezy 2 release date is announced. ‘Ye performed “Otis” with Jay-Z wearing a denim shirt, jeans, and gold chains.

After the show that ‘Ye put on at last year’s VMAs, one can only imagine what he’s got up his sleeves at tomorrow night’s award show. In addition to the rumors that the duo will be performing “Lift Off” with Beyonce, there has also been speculation that Kanye will be debuting the final version of the Air Yeezy 2 on stage. With the Watch the Throne tour set to kick off in about a month, the VMAs would be the perfect place for Kanye to debut the final Air Yeezy 2 product. What do you think?
