• Red Jesus Piece by Good Wood
4 CommentsAdding to their wooden Jesus piece collection, New York-based Good Wood is back at it again to release a red Jesus piece. This piece will be available for pre-order on the Good Wood online store for 72 hours, between February 12 and 14, with a retail of $65. If anyone recalls Good Wood’s black Jesus piece release from this past Black Friday, then you already understand the high demand that these wooden accessories command from consumers. For all the Kanye West fashion fans who missed out on any of previous Good Wood Jesus piece releases, it would be a wise move to jump on this opportunity. Although Kanye was not the first to wear a Jesus piece, he definitely put it back on the map and has made it his signature piece of jewelry.

• Kanye Wearing Ambush Ring
3 CommentsIf there’s one piece of jewelry that has become a staple to Kanye’s style, it is definitely his black Jesus piece. However, during this year’s Paris Fashion Week, it seems as though he opted to keep it at home and trade the neck-wear for a new accessory. Kanye is seen below wearing the “Eye Am Not Alone” gold ring from Tokyo-based brand Ambush. If you’ve seen the photos of Kanye at the fashion shows he’s attended the past couple of days, you’ll notice this specific ring with the 2 gold pyramids, but this is the first close-up shot of the accessory. Ambush was co-founded by Verbal from the Teriyaki Boyz, who Kanye has worked with in the studio in the past. The “Eye Am Not Alone” ring retails for $210 and can be purchased at Ambush retailers.

• Black Jesus Piece by Good Wood on Ebay
6 CommentsFor anyone that was able to purchase the black Jesus piece from Good Wood on Black Friday, consider yourself extremely fortunate. In your possession is an accessory made famous by Kanye West that will never be released again by Good Wood. For those that missed out on the one-time release and are still interested in owning this wooden accessory, be prepared to pay a significant amount to resellers. The retail price was $65, but due to Kanye’s brand influence and Good Wood’s limited run of pieces, a recent Ebay auction for the black Good Wood Jesus piece ended at $285.

• DLKW Black Jesus Piece from Good Wood
17 CommentsThanks to Chris and the rest of Good Wood for the complementary black Jesus piece. I can’t stress enough the attention to detail and precise cut and engraving that was put into this wooden accessory. Check the custom hit on the back!

• Kanye on the Good Wood Jesus Piece
5 CommentsWith all the hype surrounding the black Good Wood Jesus piece, it was only appropriate that it made its way onto Kanye West’s official blog. However, rather than in a positive light, Kanye (or his “ghost blogger”) dismissed Good Wood’s creation altogether with, “This is so bogus! Please don’t support the bootleggers.” Mind you, Kanye’s A&R Plain Pat big upped the Good Wood Jesus piece and the man responsible for creating Kanye’s very own black Jesus piece, Ben Baller, met with Chris Lee from Good Wood to receive his own wooden accessory. Kanye has become such a global icon in the world of fashion, not to mention music, that everything he wears and represents immediately becomes a trend (e.g. popped collars, bright colors, shutter shades, tight jeans, and this specific necklace). With all trends, the emergence of affordable alternatives are presented to the general public so that emulating a certain look does not have to cost an arm and a leg. Through Kanye’s influence and brand power, people want to dress like him and associate themselves with certain trends that he spearheads, but ideally, would like to do so in a financially responsible manner. Hence the reason for the affordable shutter shades at the local mall and hence the reason for the success of these Good Wood Jesus pieces. The consumers who purchased this product from these “bootleggers” are merely trying to show their support and admiration for you, Kanye.
