Lanvin for H&M Sunglasses as a ‘Way Shiner’ Alternative
November 18, 2010 | Category: High-end Fashion | Author: John
With the collaboration collection between Lanvin and H&M set to release in retail stores this Saturday, one particular accessory that stands out is the sole pair of sunglasses from the offering. The black sunglasses share aesthetic similarities with the Lanvin ‘Way Shiner’ sunglasses that have been seen several times on Kanye West in the past. Both sunglasses are oversized and semi-square in shape and include two screw-like objects positioned on the upper corners of the frame. The only differences that appear on the collaboration sunglasses are its black lenses (purple on the ‘Way Shiner’) and the non-existent Swarovski crystals on the temples. The Lanvin ‘Way Shiner’ retails for $385, while the Lanvin collaboration sunglasses with H&M will be sold for $19.95 at select H&M locations. Visit HM.com for additional details on the release.

on November 18th, 2010i agree that they do look similar, but it’s just not the same quality wise. watch the h&m ones break on you in a month.

on November 18th, 2010i’m planning to get the lanvin x h&m sunglasses instead. they look more simple with black lenses and no crystals. the way shiners are okay, but i dont think everyone can pull off crystals or purple tints.

on November 18th, 2010@troy You bring up an interesting point that many consumers probably feel about branding. I think the general mindset is that as long as XYZ (some reputable brand) is attached to a product, it boosts credibility and appeal. Would you have liked the H&M
sunglasses if Lanvin’s name was not attached to it?
@SAM We’ll have to see what happens. From personal experience, my H&M
products always been able to hold up well with time.
@Paul I agree. I wouldn’t wear the ‘Way Shiner’ because I know I wouldn’t be able to
pull off the purple lenses, let alone the crystals on the side. I think the Lanvin collab with
H&M is a simple pair of sunglasses that can be worn during any occasion with any outfit.
@Mya Yes, the H&M ones are unisex and expect extremely long lines. If you go on the
H&M website, they have guidelines set out that will help make your shopping experience
go smoothly during the day of the release.
