Kanye on the Good Wood Jesus Piece

With all the hype surrounding the black Good Wood Jesus piece, it was only appropriate that it made its way onto Kanye West’s official blog. However, rather than in a positive light, Kanye (or his “ghost blogger”) dismissed Good Wood’s creation altogether with, “This is so bogus! Please don’t support the bootleggers.” Mind you, Kanye’s A&R Plain Pat big upped the Good Wood Jesus piece and the man responsible for creating Kanye’s very own black Jesus piece, Ben Baller, met with Chris Lee from Good Wood to receive his own wooden accessory. Kanye has become such a global icon in the world of fashion, not to mention music, that everything he wears and represents immediately becomes a trend (e.g. popped collars, bright colors, shutter shades, tight jeans, and this specific necklace). With all trends, the emergence of affordable alternatives are presented to the general public so that emulating a certain look does not have to cost an arm and a leg. Through Kanye’s influence and brand power, people want to dress like him and associate themselves with certain trends that he spearheads, but ideally, would like to do so in a financially responsible manner. Hence the reason for the affordable shutter shades at the local mall and hence the reason for the success of these Good Wood Jesus pieces. The consumers who purchased this product from these “bootleggers” are merely trying to show their support and admiration for you, Kanye.

on December 3rd, 2009i think ye is jus mad because he wanted 2 b exclusive by being 1 of only a few 2 have them , i mean he has a damn good wood piece, and all of his people including his own fuckin a&r have goodwood chain and support the brand i think he is jus bitter about it.. but at the end of the day, there is only a few people who have them anyway im happy to b 1 of the few.. kanye stop the bullshit homie naggin & whining about shit.. let us people who aint rich but enjoy the same fashion sense live on this! I recieved mine last week and the detail on it is amazing, its really well done.
not all of us can afford a real one and the goodwood peice is the best affordable one out there. I think hes just being a bitch about it because he doesnt want people copying him and he wants it to be exclusive (even though he jacked the whole jesus peice thing off biggie)
also, look at all the comments about it on kanyes blog. basically everyone was against kanye haha.

on December 6th, 2009Kanye planned to release $200 heavy-plastic Jesus Pieces under his Pastelle line. Ben Baller was going to do it I believe. Obviously never pans out, and never happens. Now he sees these blowing up and probably got salty.
How can you hate on something that’s not expensive, and not done cheap? It’s an aspirational product that no one can afford done in a way that’s cool, and on-trend (beaded necklaces).

Popped colours – A preppy middle America mainstay for years, bright colours lol bit of a vague movement init, tight jeans – a indie rock movement that has now gained a little crossover love, shutter shades?? I assume you mean big lense frames. Kanye is a follower of general fashion trends, not a pioneer.
