• The “RIP Kanye West” on Twitter is Fake

Since I do run a website centered around Kanye West clothing and fashion, I feel I have a moral obligation to do this. The RIP Kanye West trending topic on Twitter is a complete, 100% fabrication.

• We Were Once a Fairytale by Spike Jonze
No Comments

By now, I’m sure most of you have heard about the release of the short film “We Were Once a Fairytale” directed by Spike Jonze featuring Kanye West. In fact, some of you may have already watched it in its entirety since it was even posted on Kanye’s official blog (which was soon removed) and can easily be found on various video websites. No matter your thoughts on Jonze’s short film, I encourage you to support him and purchase “We Were Once a Fairytale” when it hits the iTunes store. The 14-minute short film is a great piece of art that displays the highs and lows of star power and perfectly exposes the “inner demon” that takes control of Kanye’s life. It’s definitely not filled with a cliche plot and leaves much room for interpretation; which I believe is the true beauty of it.

Again, I encourage you to support Spike Jonze and all his creative endeavors by purchasing “We Were Once a Fairytale” on iTunes.

• The History of Kanye’s Clothing Line Pastelle
3 Comments

Complex has created a very informative timeline that traces Kanye West’s clothing line, Pastelle, from its unofficial introduction to the public in 2004, all the way to its supposed name change and unique offerings of varsity jackets in 2008. In the 5 years of anticipation, Pastelle showed a lot of promise to be an actual brand, which is a huge statement to make considering all the now-defunct clothing lines by rappers. From the Dropout Bear collared shirts to the sunglasses collaboration with Ksubi to the varsity jackets revealed during the promotion of 808s & Heartbreak, coupled with Kanye’s unique sense of style, Pastelle was destined for greatness. For old time’s sake, with a smile, let’s take a walk through memory lane of what Pastelle was, before we frown at what Pastelle could have been.

• Jesus Piece Necklace by Good Wood
12 Comments

Even though the late Notorious B.I.G. is no longer here, his influence on a lot of today’s rappers lives on. Not only through lyrics and flow, but also through fashion. Biggie made the infamous Jesus piece his choice of jewelry in the 90s and a significant amount of rappers today are resurrecting the piece, YES, pun intended. Two rappers quickly come to mind- Kanye West and Kid Cudi (FYI Cudi’s Jesus piece is actually Kanye’s old one). If you’ve ever wanted to own a Jesus piece but didn’t have the funds and despised the cheap imitations in the market, New York-based brand Good Wood has got you covered. For sale to the public, the Good Wood Jesus piece features a 30-inch wood beaded chain and a maple wood Jesus pendant. For the lucky few who are friends, family, and industry heads, Good Wood has made an exclusive black Jesus piece just for them.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye Wearing Great Dane
1 Comment

This week’s installment of Turn Back Thursday brings me back to 2006. It was a year where Street Wear culture and fashion blogs peaked and trendy fashion was defined as bright colors, bandanas around your neck, and all-over print hoodies. It was also a year where it seemed as if everyone and their mom claimed they had their own “clothing line”, when all they really had was just a bunch of screen-printed t-shirts; a simple t-shirt line, if you will. One of those t-shirt lines that emerged from 2006 and actually had a solid following on the Hypebeast forum was Great Dane. Here is a photo of Kanye West wearing the Great Dane Easter t-shirt and a multi-color Murakami x Louis Vuitton bandana. Standing alongside to his right is the owner of Great Dane.
