• Kanye Clothing in the “Forever” Video
4 CommentsIf you’ve ever seen the “Forever” music video that features Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem, several questions may have been running loosely through your head. Why is Lebron James the star of this video? Did Kanye really get the nod for the best verse? Is that Slaughterhouse behind Eminem? Why is Lebron James the star of this video? Despite such head-scratchers, it doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s quite a good song that not only displays 4 different rapping techniques, but also 4 different fashion styles. Complex has covered the fashion side of the music video, putting together individual outfits that resemble what Drake, Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Eminem wore in “Forever”.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye’s Glow in the Dark Tour Outfit
3 CommentsWith this week’s pre-sale and general sale tickets for the Fame Kills concert featuring Kanye West and Lady Gaga, I figure it would be appropriate to turn back to 2008 during Kanye’s highly-anticipated Glow in the Dark Tour concert. Below is the concert outfit that Kanye wore to all the sold out shows in the various cities that the tour spanned. I don’t think many people understood what look he was exactly going for, but it probably didn’t matter to most because the show was just that spectacular. It was also during the Glow in the Dark Tour that Kanye wore the Nike Air Yeezy shoes in public for the 2nd time (the first time during the 2008 Grammy Awards with the black Grammy Air Yeezys). These days, they’re being referred to as the Concert Edition Air Yeezys or Fire red Air Yeezys. With Fame Kills just a little under 2 months away, expect Kanye to go “apeshit” with effects and outfits. Especially the outfits, because we all know Lady Gaga sure will.

• Air Yeezy Doernbecher Raffle T-shirts
1 CommentAs the Nike Air Yeezy Charity Auctions ended this past weekend, Sole Collector and the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital are completing the Yeezy For Doernbecher charity series by offering the public two t-shirts where proceeds will once again benefit the charity. In addition, individuals who purchase a t-shirt will automatically qualify for a raffle where the selected winner receives a brand new pair of the Net/Net (tan) Nike Air Yeezy. A bonus is that the pair of Yeezys will be lasered with personalized text and graphics by Mark Smith.
One t-shirt has a pink print on a black t-shirt where the front graphic resembles the same laser design on the custom wooden box that houses the Grammy Air Yeezys that reads “KW YEEZY”. The second Yeezy For Doernbecher t-shirt features a glow-in-the-dark print on a black t-shirt with a front graphic that resembles the Air Yeezy’s original designs. Both t-shirts also feature similar sleeve and back designs.

• Air Yeezy Doernbecher Charity Auction Ends
2 CommentsThis past Saturday, September 19, at 7:30 PM PST, the Nike Air Yeezy Doernbecher Charity Auctions ended, raising a total of $23,900 for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The size 12, 1-of-1 Grammy Air Yeezy shoes that Kanye West actually wore at the 2008 Grammy Awards fetched $16,500, while the 1-of-1 sample of the Air Yeezy with the Jordan 6 sole went for $7,400. Two die-hard sneaker heads obtain extremely rare Air Yeezy samples to add to their collection, while the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital receives the proceeds. If you ask me, it’s a wonderful outcome that is a win-win situation
September 22nd, 2009• Air Yeezy Upper Design Process
No CommentsBack in March, prior to all the Nike Air Yeezy hysteria and official release dates, Complex had an Air Yeezy gallery which included photos that revealed the evolution of the Air Yeezy sneaker. The photos revealed the original sketches and initial plans that Kanye West and the Nike team had put together throughout the planning stages of the collaboration. Now, as the 3 releases have long passed, Sole Collector shares with the public (never before seen) behind-the-scenes photos of the making of the Air Yeezy upper. Aside from its glow in the dark sole, the Air Yeezy’s upper is definitely a “neck breaker” and something to marvel at. Inspired by the McFly sneaker/silhouette, Kanye envisioned his shoe to have a retro appeal with a luxury twist.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye Wearing Bape
1 CommentNot only has Kanye West worked alongside many great music talents, but he’s also made quite a few valuable friendships in the fashion industry. We’ve all seen the photos of Kanye with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfield, who I’m sure have been a big influence in his journey to develop his own fashion label, Pastelle (Past Tell). However, one friendship that truly sticks out from the rest is his relationship with A Bathing Ape, commonly referred to as Bape, founder Nigo. Bape, and really the entire Japanese street culture, has definitely become a pioneer for many U.S. street wear trends that have emerged the past several years. Here is Kanye, with Nigo, in the Bape Spring/Summer 2007 catalog wearing a black Bape crewneck sweater, with their infamous “Ape Shall Never Kill Ape” motto on the front.
