• Ibn Skates Jasper’s and Stephen Sprouse Board

When you get the Kanye West and Louis Vuitton Jasper’s for free, it gives you more of a  reason to do some pretty outrageous things to the $1,140 shoes. Here’s a video and pictures of Ibn Jasper skating the Jasper’s on the collaboration skateboard between Louis Vuitton and Stephen Sprouse.

• R.I.P. DJ AM
No Comments

I previously mentioned DJ AM in a post about the Nike Air Yeezy and wanted to take this opportunity to say he will truly be missed. He will be remembered as a DJ, shoe connoisseur, and most importantly, a great human being. Rest in peace, Adam Goldstein, DJ AM.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye Wearing Puffy Jacket
2 Comments

When it comes to outerwear, Kanye West can usually be seen wearing a plain hoodie, jean jacket, varsity jacket, or a technical cut-and-sew piece from an international clothing brand. These pieces are usually fitted and possess a high level of attention to detail. Now, several years back, the big trend in outwear for Hip-Hop artists included puffy jackets. Here’s a photo of Kanye with Twista and Dame Dash at New York’s SOBs, in 2004, rocking the infamous puffy jacket with fur-lining on the back. With any other fashion trend, it has come and gone, and is definitely not a piece you would ever see on Kanye, or any other rapper, for that matter.

• Kanye West for LRG Clothing
6 Comments

Lifted Research Group, or better known as LRG, has always been one of my favorite brands since day 1. Founders Jonas Bevacqua and Robert Wright  introduced LRG to the clothing industry in the late 90s and revolutionized design and fashion by bridging the gap between the skate and urban community. As a brand and lifestyle, they did not pigeonhole themselves to one audience, and their sponsorships and advertising campaigns truly reflected that. From Black Thought to Chico Brenes to Clinton Portis to Just Blaze, and many others, they always had an all-star cast of individuals. Whether through music, sports, or skate, their sponsors always brought something positive and unique to their respective craft. A notable sponsor was Kanye West, who they brought on early in his career, before the sold out shows, Jesus piece, and multi-platinum selling albums. Here are 3 magazine advertisements from 2004 of Kanye rocking LRG clothing.

• Shopping at A.P.C.

Kanye West was seen shopping at the A.P.C. store in New York’s SoHo district ironically wearing a pair of A.P.C. New Cure jeans. The french brand, which is known for it’s high-quality raw denim and selvage, has been seen on many celebs and is a prime choice for those who want to achieve a nice denim fade through everyday wear.

• Turn Back Thursday: Kanye Wearing Bandana
4 Comments

In Turn Back Thursday #3 I discussed the emergence of the all-over print hoodie that took the fashion industry by storm in 2006/2007. Another staple that complemented the all-over print trend during those 2 years was the bandana. If I’m not mistaken, I believe Pharrell was the one that started the entire trend and made it “cool”  to rock one as part of your daily outfit. Even Kanye West caught on and started wearing a variety of multi-colored bandanas. Whether it was a Louis Vuitton rag or some vintage thrift store-inspired find (most likely the former), Kanye wore the bandana with much swag at shows, music videos, magazine photoshoots, and random public appearances. Here’s a photo from 2006 of Kanye rocking a teal/orange bandana at the Karmaloop flagship store in Boston. Speaking of Louis rags, check Don C on the right with the Murakami LV print.

How many of you rocked bandanas back then? Leave a comment and let me know!
