Today, Saturday, May 2, will arguably go down as one of the most memorable releases in sneaker culture history. The black/pink Nike Air Yeezy officially released at retail stores worldwide, fulfilling the fruitions of many Sneakerheads who traveled far and wide and patiently waited on city sidewalks, some even in unforgiving weather conditions, for a pair of what most consider the best colorway of the 3 releases. It is intriguing, from the outside looking in, to see the impact that a material good has on consumers and to examine the heights that which consumers will go through to be a rightful owner of that “thing.” So, what do you get when you put together the biggest trend-setter in Popular culture and a sneaker conglomerate with a commanding market share?
