• The Hype Behind the Nike Air Yeezy
No Comments

As the April 4th release date for the Nike Air Yeezy approaches, a handful of the sneakers have already been hitting Ebay. A select number of fortunate individuals have already received their pair and have decided to foregoe “breaking necks” in order to collect their monetary share of the anticipation and hype that surrounds the Air Yeezy. Now, I ask you, my fellow readers, Sneakerheads, Kanye fans, and Fashionistas:

If/ When you purchase the Nike Air Yeezy, what will
you do with your pair?

I will wear them

I will keep them deadstock (never wear them)

I will re-sell them

• Super Sunglasses by RETROSUPERFUTURE
10 Comments

If you have been following the Dress Like Kanye West blog, or any other fashion/ Streetwear blog, it would be apparent that the majority of the sneakers Kanye West has been wearing have either been the Nike Air Yeezy or the collaboration sneakers he did with Louis Vuitton. What almost always becomes overlooked are the sunglasses he wears with each outfit. As far back as the release of 808s & Heartbreak in November, Kanye has been seen wearing an array of the Super sunglasses from the up and coming Italian brand RETROSUPERFUTURE. Kanye is known for his taste in classic, retro-style sunglasses and it is no wonder that the Super sunglasses have been his prime choice for 2009.

• Complex Magazine Feature: The Air Yeezy
No Comments

Complex magazine has featured Kanye West and Mark Smith, Creative Director of Special Projects for Nike, to discuss the development of the Nike Air Yeezy, a sneaker collaboration between the iconic musician/fashionista and global footwear conglomerate. Here is a little piece from the feature, which can be read in its entirety at the Complex website.

Nike is the No. 1 sneaker lifestyle brand, right? And I’m the No. 1 most influential cutural pop art brand: scarves, beards, plastic glasses, whatever. So you take those two things and you mesh that—it’s very exciting. I’m the Nike of culture. – Kanye
