Kanye Spotted in the Nike KobeSystem Commercial

Nike has recruited a class of the most successful individuals in their field to join Kobe Bryant as part of the Nike KobeSystem campaign. Featuring the likes of Serena Williams, Richard Branson, Jerry Rice, and Tony Robbins, Kanye West joins this elite class to learn more about Kobe’s “Success for the Successful” philosophy. In the commercial, Kanye is spotted wearing an all-black formal outfit with the Nike Zoom Kobe VII “Del Sol” sneakers. This isn’t ‘Ye’s first time starring in a Nike campaign for Kobe Bryant. Last year, Kanye played the role of one of Kobe’s villains in “The Black Mamba” short film—the very film where the Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneaker was previewed. Kanye West is overseas in Florence, Italy and was recently photographed by Gilt MAN Fashion Advisor Nick Wooster. In the photo, Kanye is seated next to chief creative officer of Saks Fifth Avenue, Terron Schaefer, at a lunch hosted by Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist. Since ‘Ye studied fashion in Europe and has made huge strides in developing his own line, there’s a possibility that he was in attendance at Pitti Uomo, Florence’s famed trade show for men’s fashion.

DONDA by Kanye West

Following the chronicle of his fashion career, Kanye West also announced on Twitter that he will be starting a design company called DONDA. Naming the company after his late mother, Donda West, Kanye stated that he would be assembling a team of “amazing thinkers”—including architects, designers, writers, app guys, doctors, teachers and more—to create “over 22 divisions with a goal to make products and experiences that people want and can afford.” Though no further information on DONDA has been confirmed, Kanye revealed one project that is set to be released this year, a “seven-screen experience” titled “2016 OLYMPIC’s.”

Kanye West Talks Fashion on Twitter

Yesterday, Kanye West shared the story behind his fashion career on Twitter. As told in his series of tweets, he started off in fashion eight years ago, from turning down initial offers to do urban clothing lines to unsuccessfully begging Bape to do his own line. From there, he told his story of how he got his start in high-end fashion, studying in Europe at famed fashion labels Fendi and Giuseppe Zanotti, and opening his own design studio in Paris. He also shared that at Nike, he’s “allowed” to design one pair of sneakers every two years, meaning the “Yeezi 3″ that he mentioned last week would be due out in 2014. Kanye Rumored to Move to London for Fashion Career

It was reported yesterday by UK’s The Sun that Kanye West has plans to move to London to further pursue his fashion career. According to the report, he’ll work in London to prepare for Paris Fashion Week. There, he’ll also be able to receive advice from the students and faculty at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. If you recall, Kanye collaborated with CSM graduate Louise Goldin for his own womenswear line. As of now, nothing has been confirmed regarding Kanye’s possible move.
